Age 86, of Beechview, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, February 15, 2024. Ron was born February 9, 1938, to the late Patrick and Dorothy (Hofmeister) Stanton. He was preceded in death by his loving companion Caroline Weber and loving granddaughter Emily Stanton. Loving brother of Robert (Josie) Stanton. Devoted father of Craig (Pam) Stanton, Scott (Ann) Stanton, and Laura (Chris) Kohler. Ron is survived by Margaret “Peggy” (Lehberger) Stanton, grandchildren Max, Emma, Jack, Heather, great-granddaughter Summer Anderson, his nephew and godson Brad (Tricia) Stanton, great-niece Brielle Stanton, and great-nephew Luke Stanton.
Ron entered the Marine Corps at the age of 17 and proudly served as a Marine Sergeant for the American Land Forces Middle East in 1958.
Ron loved to vacation at Virginia Beach and Key West where he spent many days deep sea fishing with his kids and nephew. His favorite pastimes were reading about politics and history, attending many Steelers and Pirates games, going to the gym, and hanging out at the local bars. But his most cherished pastime was spending it with his family.
The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Mt. Lebanon for their compassionate and loving care given to Ron while he was there.
Friends received 3-7 p.m. on Monday at BRUSCO-NAPIER FUNERAL SERVICE, LTD., 2201 Bensonia Ave., Pgh, PA 15216. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Teresa of Kolkata Parish—St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1810 Belasco Ave., Pgh, PA 15216. Burial to follow in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate.
