A strong man lost his fight on Sunday, May 12, 2019. Tom, Tommy, Dad, or Big T, however you knew him, was a sweet, selfless, and caring man until the very end. Tom’s life was not always easy throughout his 80 years, but he always persevered and left his son Tom and his dog with everything he could and more. Tom was a role model and a great man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him by bringing a smile to the faces of those he touched. He and his wife Eileen, who predeceased him 17 long years ago, left those who knew them with a smile, a warm heart, a full stomach, and the knowledge that they were cared for by this loving couple. Tom was a devoted man who worked at the Pittsburgh Press and the Post-Gazette for over forty years. He showed this same devotion to his family and loved ones, and he leaves this world having shown those he left behind the way to live life, the person to strive to be, and how to be a pillar of strength in the face of adversity and challenge. We hope his friends raise a glass, shed a tear, have a laugh or carry a smile in honor of Tom in the coming days as he would want all that knew him to do. As per Tom's wishes there are no visitations. Services and interment are private. In one final selfless act, Tom would like those he knew to consider a donation to the loving people at Vitas Healthcare who did so much for him during his final time. https://vitascommunityconnection.org/community-connection.
