Anthony R. Garrubba

Age 77, of Beechview, on Thursday, September 22, 2011. Beloved husband of Loretta (Moneck) Garrubba; loving father of Janet (Louis) Canova, Anthony J. and Carl Garrubba; grandfather of Alex Garrubba and Dominic Canova; brother of Frank, Nick, James and the late Joseph "Jr" and Rose Marie Motznik; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; son of the late Rosa (Scalise) and Giuseppe Garrubba. Tony is an alumni of Central Catholic Class of 1952. Tony was a well known, well respected Construction Engineer. His expertise of roads and bridges led him to a career with both Penn Dot and Allegheny County. Many of the roads and bridges you drive across today were under his supervision. While in retirement, Tony worked with SAI Consulting Engineers and other engineering firms on various projects. Most recently, Tony was on Church Council at St. Catherine of Siena and served on the board at Beechview Manor. Tony was the Treasurer of the Italian Sons and Daughters of America, Brookline Lodge #262. Friends received 6-8 p.m. Saturday and 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at BRUSCO - NAPIER FUNERAL SERVICE, LTD., 2201 Bensonia Ave., Pgh., PA 15216. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Catherine of Siena Church on Monday at 10 a.m. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1810 Belasco Ave., Pgh., PA 15216.
