I, Dolores Helen (Kozlowski) Szmagaj arrived at my final destination on Friday, July 17, 2020. My odyssey lasted 94 years. The trip took a lot longer than I had anticipated. Henry's and my beloved Model A Ford broke down many times on my journey home. Thank God for the 3 Rivers Model A Ford Club who was on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Along my excursion, I made many memorable stops. I married Henry Frank Szmagaj in 1946. Henry decided to ''up'' and die on me in 1992. The nerve of that man. We had 4 children, Donna Marie (deceased), my son Alan (deceased), Marietta, and my baby boy Wayne (deceased). They ALL claimed to be my favorite. I want to set the record straight, my FAVORITE, was my Japanese Chin dog named Bart. I was known in my community as one of the first career women in the 1950's. Being a devout Catholic and 100% Polish, I actually got to touch and speak to Pope John II and I have the picture to prove it! I could have died and gone to Heaven that day. In my later years, my mind started playing tricks on me. I often confused my favorite grandchild Candice (she won by default since she was my only grandchild) with my favorite niece Ginny Szwarc Haluska. My only great grandchild Colton, really was my favorite. I never cursed in my life. However, during the last several years, my favorite phrase of endearment had become....GO TO HELL. To my ''so called friends'', who never bothered to call and check on me when I stopped chauffeuring them around...GO TO HELL!!! Boy, that felt good to say. Due to my death, stock prices will plummet at several restaurants. These include: Benihana's, Eat n' Park, Atria's of Mt. Lebanon, LeMont, Hyde Park, to name a few. Because I have outlived most of my family members and friends, and due to the coronavirus, services will be private for my family. I will be buried next to Henry at St. Augustine's Mausoleum, Pittsburgh, Pa. Unfortunately, Henry was buried without his hearing aids. I am not sure he will hear me when I arrive. However, I know that we will be together forever at last at ''Twilight Time.'' The family wants to thank the Baptist Homes for their excellent care given to Dolores over the years. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Baptist Homes, 489 Castle Shannon Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15234, or Caring Hospice Service, 118 Foxplan Rd., Suite One, Monroeville, PA 15146. Arrangements entrusted to BRUSCO - NAPIER FUNERAL SERVICE, LTD., 2201 Bensonia Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15216.
