Fr. Anthony Gargotta

Age 60, of Beechview, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 11, 2022, after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. Loving son of Mary Ann “Dee” (Dzeba) Gargotta and the late Joseph Gargotta. Fr. Tony is also survived by many cousins, their spouses and children: Deacon Samuel “Sam” and Mayra Toney; Jerry and Lorena (Toney) Brandl and their children Luke, Lauren, Anna, and Andrew; Paul and Judy (Klenk) Toney and their children Jake, Katie, and JP; Jason “Jake” Toney and Rachel (Richmond) Hughes and Jake’s daughter Madison; Adam and Nancy Calabrese and their children Amy and Ashley; Mark and Aggie (Calabrese) Podrosky; Brian and Fedora (Calabrese) Phillips and their children Shane, Cory, and Brianna; Samantha Toney and son Tyler; Jani Toney; Walter and Lorraine (Miller) Grabel; Joseph and Helen Toney; Stephen Dzeba; Rich and Eileen (Dzeba) Tebbens and family; Dennis and Judie (Dzeba) DiPasquo and family. Anthony “Fr. Tony” was called by God, in life, to serve as a Priest who served and taught through his actions of impenetrable faith and unwavering love for God and everyone with whom he interacted. Unequivocally, his positive impact was and is immeasurable. He was even grateful during his illness as he felt Blessed being able to serve willingly and actively in the parish. He was called home to heaven by God where he is joined with his Father Joseph and brother Anthony. Friends received 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at BRUSCO-NAPIER FUNERAL SERVICE, LTD., 2201 Bensonia Ave., Pgh, PA 15216. Friends will also be received on Thursday from 10:30 - 11:45 a.m. in St. Teresa of Kolkata Parish—St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1810 Belasco Ave., Pgh, PA 15216. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following Thursday’s visitation at 12 p.m. in St. Teresa of Kolkata Parish—St. Catherine of Siena Church. Interment will be held privately for the family. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages friends to make donations to The Little Sisters of the Poor, 1028 Benton Ave., Pgh, PA 15212.
