Age 77, of Dormont, on Friday, May 17, 2024. Beloved husband of Barbara J. (Torchia) Vetter. Loving father of Dave (Sherry) Vetter and Danielle Vetter. Pap of Andrew Vetter and Evan Vetter. Brother of Judy (the late Ray) Gusky, Bill Vetter, Linda (Keith) Pfeil, Joe (Betsy) Vetter, and Mary (Lenny) Almade. Son of the late Wilbert and Carmela (Fruscello) Vetter. Fred will be sadly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Fred served in the United States Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After serving his country, he married his wife of 55 years, Barbara. His career in mechanical design spanned over 40 years. Rooted in his Catholic faith, Fred was actively involved in St. Bernard Parish as both a football coach and CCD teacher. But nothing gave him more pride than his children and grandchildren and his biggest joy was spending time with his family. He will be especially missed by his dogs and grand-dogs who he could never refuse giving a treat to. The only thing that overshadowed Fred’s generosity was his amazing sense of humor.
Friends received 3-7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22nd, at BRUSCO-NAPIER FUNERAL SERVICE, LTD., 2201 Bensonia Ave., Pgh, PA 15216. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 23rd, at 10 a.m. in St. Michael the Archangel Parish—St. Bernard Church, 311 Washington Rd., Pgh, PA 15216. Fred will be buried, the following week, in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Rd., Bridgeville, PA 15017, with full military honors on Thursday, May 30th at 1:30 p.m. If you plan on attending, please meet at the cemetery.
