Isabel T. (Gaetano) Leindecker

Age 99, of Beechview, on Tuesday, July 25, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Andrew A. Simasek and Raymond J. Leindecker. Loving mother of Mary Jo (Chris) Capizzi, Andrew (Mary Grace) Simasek, and the late Madeline (William Bollendorf) Simasek. Grandmother of Anthony (Liz) Simasek, Isabelle (Jacob) Bollendorf, Peter (Darcy) Simasek, Clare Simasek, Evan Leindecker, Nicholas (Fiona) Leindecker, and Dana Leindecker. Great-grandmother of Oriana, Siena Grace, Cameron, and Leo. Daughter of the late Vincent and Mary (Calabrese) Gaetano. Sister of the late Anthony (Catherine) Gaetano, Vincent (Joan) Gaetano, and Joseph “Moppo” (Dorothy) Gaetano. In addition, she is survived by her step-children, Joseph (Nancy) Leindecker, Evalina Leindecker, James Leindecker, John Leindecker, and the late David (Carol—still surviving) Leindecker. Isabel will be sadly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her deeply.

Isabel grew up in the Beechview neighborhood of Pittsburgh, and lived her whole life there surrounded by her very close-knit Italian family. Being that she loved nothing more than feeding those she loved, she was the consummate Italian mother and grandmother, and known to all who loved her as “Nunny” or “Is”. Isabel spent most of her career working for the IRS or as a bookkeeper, and she continued to do her family’s and friend’s taxes well into her 90’s. Isabelle was so proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as they continued to provide her with nothing but joy in her most recent years.

As per Isabel’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend and celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, August 2nd, at 10 a.m. in St. St. Teresa of Kolkata Parish—St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1810 Belasco Ave., Pgh, PA 15216. Burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Everyone please meet at church. Arrangements are entrusted to BRUSCO-NAPIER FUNERAL SERVICE, LTD., 2201 Bensonia Ave., Pgh, PA 15216.
