James Lowen Obituary

Age 83, of Beechview, passed away, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, November 9, 2024. Preceded in death by his parents Harry and Alice (Coulehan) Lowen. Beloved husband of the late Linda M. (Gagliardino) Lowen. Loving father of Amy L. (Michael Mullaney) Lowen, James H. (Danielle) Lowen and Marget L. (David) Barringer. Cherished Pap of Jimmy Lowen and Michael Mullaney. Brother of Rita Mulach, Donna Kralik, Judi Curran and the late Harry Lowen, Alice Warren, Patsy Boranski, Joan Liskey and Edward Lowen. Jim is also survived by his brother-in-law William (Marge) Gagliardino, his dear nieces, nephews and friends. Jim proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War in 1964. From 1959 to 2002, Jim worked for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette as a printer. After years of hard work and dedication, Jim earned his way to become the President of the International Typographical Union Local No. 7. Jim also served as President in the Union Printers International Baseball League, where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame and President of the West Liberty Athletic Association. Jim will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m., at BRUSCO-NAPIER FUNERAL SERVICE, LTD., 2201 Bensonia Ave., Pgh, PA 15216. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 10:00 a.m in St. Teresa of Kolkata Parish, St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1810 Belasco Ave., Pgh., PA 15216, where Full Military honors will be rendered immediately following Mass. Jim will be laid to rest with his loving wife Linda, in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery at a later date.
