Age 90, a longtime resident of Beechview, passed away on December 4, 2021. She was born on January 10,1931 and was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, John R. Graner. Joan is survived by her five children, Scott (Tammy) Graner, Glenn (Linda) Graner, Cindy (Allen) Stein, Christopher (Teresa) Graner, and Susan Graner (Andrea Janczak); eight grandchildren, Kathleen Graner, Steven (Ashley) Graner, Madison (Austen) Krause, Grace Graner, Sara (John) Roche, Allen Michael Stein, Justin Graner and Joshua Graner; four great-grandchildren, Duncan and Celia Graner, John and Anna Roche; nephews David Lang and Jim (Linda) Burge; and niece, Patricia Cromer. Joan was devoted to her family and to her Catholic faith. She attended her South Hills High School reunions for 70 years, was an avid Penguin’s hockey fan, and enjoyed traveling and playing cards with her many friends. Special thanks to the staff at Gallagher Hospice and the John J. Kane Regional Center in Scott Township for providing her with excellent care during the past four months. There will be no visitation as per her wishes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 13th at Noon in St. Teresa of Kolkata Parish—St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1810 Belasco Ave., Pgh, PA 15216. Joan’s final resting place in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, with her husband John, will be private. Memorial contributions in Joan’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
