Age 72, of Beechview, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. Beloved husband of Catherine L. (Bittner) Neiport. Loving father of Shelley (Mark) McLean, Pam Michaelson, and JJ (Emily) Neiport Jr. Grandfather of Mary Scott (Daniel) Mercer, Robert (Abby) McLean, Ronnie Stromple III, Sydney Michaelson, James Neiport III, Tyler Michaelson, and Jonah Neiport. Great-grandfather of Eliza Mercer and one more on the way. Brother of Donald E. (Fred Lytle) Gillenberger, Patti Gillenberger, Kathleen (the late Charles) Chapman, Dennis (Barb) Gillenberger, Marie (Gary) Trilli, Ted (Julie) Szalla Jr., Jim (Donna) Szalla, Lisa (Brian) Cratty, and the late Ronald “Mickey” (Kathy—still surviving) Gillenberger. Son of Ted Szalla Sr. and the late Donald D. Gillenberger and Lillian (Hanbury) Gillenberger Szalla. Special cousin of Vern Gillenberger. Jack will be sadly missed by his Aunt Jeannie, his dog Gracie, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends. Jack was the proud owner of Jack’s Towing in Castle Shannon for 45 years. Prior to owning his towing business, he worked for Bill Gray Buick as a salesman. He was mentored and befriended by Bill Gray Sr. Jack will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, his love for his family, and his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and dedication. Friends received 4-8 p.m. on Sunday at BRUSCO-NAPIER FUNERAL SERVICE, LTD., 2201 Bensonia Ave., Pgh, PA 15216. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Teresa of Kolkata Parish—St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1810 Belasco Ave., Pgh, PA 15216.
