Age 71, of Brookline, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, surrounded by love and laughter, just as she lived. Beloved wife of the late Samuel R. "Sammy" Bell. Daughter of the late Jack L. Horner Sr. and Dorothy (Yaksich) Horner. Cherished sister of the late Jack Horner Jr., Catherine (Horner) Place of Ohio, and Carol Horner of Massachusetts. Stepsister of Mary Anne Hager of Alabama. Loving sister-in-law to Valerie (the late Jimmy) Johnston and Sandy (Ray) Netzel. Pet parent to Freedom her beloved cat.
Laura is also survived by countless friends who were more like family and by her "kids," as she affectionately called them — each one touched by her boundless warmth, humor, and joy. She was a longtime friend of Bill W.
Known for her infectious smile and unmistakable laugh, Laura had a unique gift for lifting spirits and filling rooms with light. She always took one day a time. A true Pittsburgher's Pittsburgher, she was a die-hard Steelers fan, never missing a game, cheering at many rallies and proudly wearing black and gold no matter the season. She like to keep things simple. Her passion, loyalty, and community spirit made her a valued member of several close-knit and dedicated circles.
Laura's legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering pride in her hometown and the people she called family. She made every gathering brighter, every hard time a little easier, and every heart a bit fuller.
