Marie K. (Sonetti) Cortese

Age 95, of Beechview, formerly of Bloomfield, on Thursday, March 25, 2021, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of the late Henry P. Cortese, Sr. Loving mother of Connie (Russell) Tortoreti, Cathy (late Frank Pikutis) Cortese, Donna (David) Staats, Rico (late Colleen) Cortese, Robert (Kathy) Cortese, Michael (Mimi) Cortese and the late Ronald Cortese. Eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Sister of John (Lisa) Sonetti and the late Frank (Lena) Sonetti, Anthony Sonetti, Alvina (Ted) Ziccardi and Rose Marie Angel. Daughter of the late Salvatore and Orsolina (Meloni) Sonetti. Loving friend of cherished long-time neighbors Elaine (Baily) McCullough, Joan Graner and Barb Wilson. Marie loved watching her soap operas, Columbo and the game show network. She enjoyed bowling, going to the casino and playing her favorite card game, Shang Hi, with her grandchildren. Marie especially loved cooking and baking, with her specialties being pasta and pizzelles. She will be missed by all, but she will always be with us. This is not “Good-bye”…“We’ll see you later”, Mom. Friends received Monday 3-8 p.m. at BRUSCO-NAPIER FUNERAL SERVICE, LTD., 2201 Bensonia Ave., Pgh, PA 15216. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Teresa of Kolkata Parish—St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1810 Belasco Ave., Pgh, PA 15216. Burial to follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery. The funeral home is following all CDC and PA State guidelines. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Heritage Hospice, 2400 Leechburg Rd, Bldg. #300, New Kensington PA, 15068.
