Mary Anne Coyne Obituary

Age 76, of Beechview, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, May 26, 2021. Beloved daughter of Florence M. (Burgess) Coyne and the late Robert V. Coyne. Loving sister of Eileen (Charles) Mares, the late John R. Coyne, Robert F. (Margaret) Coyne, Sally Coyne (Ed Malecki), Linda (the late Richard) Mancuso, Margie Coyne (the late Thomas Quinn), Judith (John) Williams, and sister-cousin Suzanne (David) Schaefer.  Mary Anne is also survived and will be dearly missed by her devoted nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins, and beloved uncle Gerald Burgess, as well as close friends Maggie Mitro, Jan Rosfeld, and Jane Schaefer.

Mary Anne was a retired librarian and spent her entire career, 50 years, working for the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. She graduated from Duquesne University and the University of Pittsburgh with an MLS. Mary Anne is well-remembered for the positive impact she had on so many lives through her gifted storytelling which enthralled countless children. She created and led a book club for 25 years featuring family, friends, lively discussions and good food such as her signature golden cheese wheel.

She was a lifelong resident and supporter of the Beechview community, and member of St. Catherine of Siena Church where she sang in the choir, served as a lector, and volunteered at many church events. Mary Anne enjoyed bowling, bunko, camping, the symphony, CLO, ballet, traveling, and beach vacations with family. Mary Anne’s family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Fair Oaks of Pittsburgh and their staff  for the wonderful care and support.
