Great-grandfather of Camden, Alexa, Danika, Cayson, Desiree, Breanna, Madison, Mila, Makena, Melina, Bobby, Olivia, Easton, Savannah, Zander, Marlea "Jean", and the late Alaynna. Brother of the late Joanne Ptaszkiewicz, Joe (Wilma) Ptaszkiewicz, Franny (Jack) Yantz, Florence (John) Kowalski, Harry Ptaszkiewicz, Frank Ptaszkiewicz, Jr., Robbie (Janet--stil surviving) Ptaszkiewicz, Dorothy (Dick--still surviving) Huber, and Joan "Joanne" (Walt) Gromek. Mitch will be sadly missed by numerous loving nieces, nephews, and friends, especially his endearing special friend and caretaker Marlene Masucci.
Mitch was a proud Marine who enlisted and honorably served his country during the Korean War. His time in the Marines shaped the steadfast character and strong work ethic that defined him throughout his life. Before the war and upon returning home, Mitch built a long and dedicated 37 year career as a steelworker for J & L Steel, where his hard work and integrity earned the respect of everyone who knew him. A true man of faith and devotion, Mitch lived by four guiding priorities: God, family, Polish heritage and sports — in that order. He never missed an occasion — always showing up for birthdays, holidays, milestones, and everything in between. Mitch never said no to a person in need. His generosity, reliability, and kindness touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. Those who knew Mitchell will remember his strength, loyalty, and quiet kindness. His legacy endures in the values he lived by and the love he shared with family and friends.
Mitch's family would like to thank the nurses from UPMC Family Hospice and his volunteer companion, Kevin, as well as all the VA caretakers, especially Nikki, Danielle, and Alexis.
