Otto W. Gionni, 96, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2024, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He lived in Thornburg, Pennsylvania for the last 50 years.
He is survived by his son Gregory (Kathryn) Zaney, along with his four grandchildren, Margot, Gregory, Matthew, and William, and six great grandchildren, Zane, Max, Octavia, Zara, Ariel, and Lukas.
Otto was a quiet man who loved sports, especially the Steelers and Pirates.
He enjoyed nature and the out of doors, hunting and fishing with his friends and family. At home, he loved feeding and observing the deer living around his home and gardening and planting flowers. He truly loved life and telling great stories/tales with a smile on his face and blue eyes sparkling.
Otto worked in construction building power plants and tall buildings, many on the University of Pittsburgh campus. He belonged to the International Labor Union of North America.
Otto served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and soon after married Emily Oresti who predeceased Otto in 1987.
Otto will be buried next to his wife Emily, in Holy Souls Cemetery.
We were all blessed to have Otto in our lives.
There will be a Committal Service at Resurrection Cemetery, 100 Resurrection Rd., Coraopolis, PA 15108, in the mausoleum chapel at on Saturday, November 9th at 11 a.m. Arrangements are entrusted to BRUSCO-NAPIER FUNERAL SERVICE, LTD., 2201 Bensonia Ave., Pgh, PA 15216.
