Age 82, formerly of Beechview, on Sunday, June 26, 2011. Beloved husband of 60 years of Rosemary (Rooney) Hazel; loving father of Richard J., Jr. and his wife Patricia of Charlotte, NC, Mary Ellen of Richmond, VA, Donna Jean, Thomas and his wife Sue and Joanne and her husband David Pavlinch; grandfather of Joseph, Steven and his wife Brooke, Michael, Brian Hazel, Erica and her husband Brian Andrews and Shannon Pavlinch; great-grandfather of Brady and Tyler Hazel; brother of Catherine and her husband John Friel and the late Mary and her husband Dan Harkins and William and his wife Clara Hazel; brother-in-law of Betty Ann Koral, Eleanor and her husband James McCaffrey, Jean and her husband Donald Noonan and Kathleen Rooney; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Hazel was a proud member of the Iron Workers Union Local #3 and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Friends received Tuesday 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine of Siena Church, on Thursday at 10 a.m. Interment in Calvary Cemetery with full military honors.
