Age 88, of Beechview, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, April 4, 2026.
Daughter of the late Samuel and Lena (Lococo) DeMarco. Beloved wife of the late Frank J. Stoernell. Loving mother of Joseph (Catherine) Stoernell, Sherry (Curtis) Pendred, Stephanie (Walter) Morris and the late Cynthia (surviving spouse, Curtis) Dukes. Cherished “Grammy” of Anthony, James, William, Courtney, Jacob (Tori), and Danielle (Matthew). Beloved “Great-Grammy” of seven, and great-great grammy of three. Sister of Bob (Carol) DeMarco, Richard (the late Barbara) DeMarco, and the late Samuel (Ginny) DeMarco, Tony (Loretta) DeMarco, and Lucille (Joseph) Hormuth. Shirley is also preceded in death by her loving brother-in-law Neil (Agnes “Lynn”) Stoernell. Shirley will be sadly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Shirley was an Executive Secretary for over 40 years in the banking industry prior to her retirement. She also had a talented and creative spirit. She found happiness in working with and creating ceramic memorabilia. Shirley loved to travel and take vacations, especially to Hilton Head, South Carolina. Her travels created many memories that will forever be cherished by her loving family. Shirley was also a devoted Pittsburgh sports fan. She loved to watch and cheer on all Pittsburgh sports teams, especially her Pittsburgh Penguins. Above all, Shirley will forever be remembered as a warm, loving, kindhearted soul, who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and spending quality time with her family. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Family and friends received on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 from 2-7 p.m., at BRUSCO-NAPIER FUNERAL SERVICE, LTD., 2201 Bensonia Ave., Pgh., PA 15216. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 10:00 a.m., in St. Teresa of Kolkata Parish – St. Catherine of Siena Church, 1810 Belasco Ave., Pgh., PA 15216.
