Of Beechview, died July 2, 2011, at the age of 88. Beloved husband for 62 years of Joan Gaetano; son of the late Mary and Vincent "Jim" Gaetano; loving father of Vincent, III, LeeAnn Matesich and husband Mike, James "Jim Joe" and Lori Nadle and husband Jonathan; doting grandfather of Liz and Emily Matesich and Catharine Gaetano; brother of Isabel Leindecker and the late Anthony and Joseph "Moppo" Gaetano; uncle of many nieces and nephews. Vince started his career as a barber at the Stanley Barber Shop. He later became owner of the Penn Ave. Barber Shop in town, retiring at the age of 71, after 50 years of service to the community. Vince served in World War II in the Army "Hell on Wheels" 2nd Armored Division in Normandy (D-Day +3), Holland, Belgium (Battle of the Bulge) and Berlin. The family wishes to especially thank Vince's primary care physician, Dr. Thomas Bonacorsi, and Neurologist, Dr. Edward Mistler. They also wish to extend special thanks to the devoted caregivers at Washington Commons Personal Care Home and to the staff of Asera Care Hospice. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to St. Pamphilus Church, located at 1000 Tropical Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15216, or to a charity of your choice. Friends received on Tuesday, July 5, from 6-9 p.m. and on Wednesday, July 6 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Pamphilus Church will be held on Thursday, July 7 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery with full Military Honors.
